Smart sensors are used everywhere in Internet of Things (IoT)/Industrial IoT (IIoT)/smart city applications to provide real-time data and status of real-world monitoring and control applications for improved application system reliability and resilience. Smart sensor data interoperability is a major challenge for IoT/IIoT/smart city applications because of the diverse proprietary and standardized communication protocols adopted by different vendors and manufacturers, and the diverse implementations based on different interpretations of the same standard. How do we achieve and assure interoperability of smart sensors? Interoperability testing is one of the most effective solutions to achieve and assure interoperability of smart sensors in IoT/IIoT/smart city applications. This session will focus on 1) interoperability definition; 2) interoperability challenges for IoT smart sensors; 3) an introduction of interoperability testing; 4) different interoperability testing methods of standard.
