5G Advanced and 6G systems are being developed and deployed within the present decade. Among the features, defining these networks, are their use AI methodologies and handling of massive wireless sensor networks. Engineers must find efficient ways to optimize these systems and configure their parameters. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques can play a big role in modeling, design, and analysis of these networks. To illustrate the advantage of using AI/ML techniques, we discuss the design of a wireless Wi-Fi based sensing system for automated person detection in an indoor environment. We will walk through the development challenges, introduce an AI-based estimation model, go through various workflow steps. Finally, we show how the AI model can result in satisfactory overall system performance.
