Connected IoT devices continue to expand into all aspects of life. Based on analyst estimates, there will be over 75 billion secure connected IoT devices by 2030 enabling a range of industrial, medical, smart home/cities applications. Based on another analysts estimate, more than 1/3rd of connected IoT devices will be battery operated, and the associated energy use and waste from these batteries will be considerably huge. Power management therefore, becomes a critical factor to increase battery life for both an optimized user experience and to support green initiatives by reducing battery waste. It is therefore imperative that the design of next-generation sensors incorporate low power, efficient and flexible embedded features. In this session, I will be discussing key considerations in designing low-power sensors for IoT sustainability to succeed. Attendees will also learn few mission profiles and case studies describing the importance of sensors low power features in system solutions.
